Chief Executive Officer Howard Sklar earned a B.S. in Engineering and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Michigan. He also has an S.M. in Earth and Planetary Science with an emphasis in Geophysics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Sklar became active in the oil and gas industry when he joined his family’s Sklar & Phillips Oil Company in 1992. He founded Sklar Exploration Company in 1998 to lead the continued growth of his immediate family’s oil and gas assets and other investments. Early in his career he utilized his expertise in physics toward applications of AVO and later toward the use of NUMAR logging in non-conventional pay zone analysis. His early efforts in East Texas led to the addition of natural gas reserves and new pay zones at Oletha, North Oletha and Personville Fields in the Travis Peak and Cotton Valley sandstones. His expertise in geophysics, log analysis and hydraulic fracture stimulation greatly contributed to Sklar Exploration's discovery and development of natural gas reserves in Rodessa limestones and Cotton Vally sandstones at Steele Creek Field in East Texas, and the extension and development of natural gas reserves in Hosston sandstones at West Arcadia Field in North Louisiana. More recently, Mr. Sklar has led his company to drill more than 150 wells over the past 10 years targeting conventional oil reserves. These wells have produced in excess of 11 million barrels of oil to date from numerous fields, including Little Cedar Creek, Brooklyn, Kirkland and Fishpond Fields in Alabama, and Oak Hay Field in Mississippi. Mr. Sklar is an active philanthropist, and generously devotes both his time and financial resources to countless charitable organizations. He is also an active athlete, and spends much of his free time preparing for and competing in cycling and triathlon races.

Mr. Barlow has led Sklar in the growth of its assets and operations since he joined the company in 2001. He earned a B.A. degree from Centenary College, where he now serves on Centenary's Board of Trustees and as a member of that Board's Executive Committee. After obtaining his undergraduate degree, he served as a research assistant for Professor Michael Hurst, the Senior Fellow of St. Johns College at Oxford University in Oxford, England. He earned his J.D. and graduated Cum Laude from Tulane University School of Law. During law school, he worked as a student law clerk for Judge Steven Plotkin, 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, New Orleans, Louisiana. Before joining Sklar in 2001, he practiced law at the law firms of Barlow and Hardtner L.C. and its successor, Lemle & Kelleher, L.L.P., where he specialized in oil and gas law, representing oil and gas independent producers in oil and gas transactions, environmental, tort and breach of contract litigation, regulatory matters and title work. He is a licensed attorney in Louisiana and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA), the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Oil & Gas Section of the Louisiana State Bar. Mr. Barlow also serves as Charter Member of the Board of Directors of The Leonard Family Corporation, a family holding company with subsidiaries in the food processing and soil and composting industries. He is also Director and Vice President of the Sisters of the Destitute. Mr. Barlow is a former Member of the Advisory Board of Bowman Systems LLC, a software company specializing in the human services industry; the Editorial Board of the Journal of Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources; the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA); and the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA). He is a graduate of IPAA’s Executive Management Program for Oil & Gas Executives at Harvard Business School and has been a presenter at the 2007 Ark-La-Tex Association of Professional Landmen Educational Seminar and at the 54th Mineral Law Institute at LSU Law Center.

V.P. — Exploration Manager Mr. Ezelle has more than 20 years of exploration and production experience focusing primarily in the Ark-La-Tex and MAFLA regions. He was directly responsible for 15 field discoveries during that time with estimated total reserves of over 120 BCF and 20 MMBO. Mr. Ezelle joined Sklar & Phillips Oil Company in 1996, and Sklar at its inception in 1998. Prior to working with the Sklar family, Mr. Ezelle worked as an explorationist with other oil and gas firms, including Marlin Exploration, Robey H. Clark (consulting for Diamond Shamrock Corporation), Spirit Petroleum, Tideway Exploration, Texas Oil and Gas Corporation, and American Natural Resources. He earned a B.S. in geology from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, and completed two years of graduate work at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA. He is an AAPG certified petroleum geologist, a licensed professional geoscientist in the State of Texas and a past board member and secretary of the Shreveport Geological Society.

V.P. — Chief Financial OfficerMr. Farrell is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, LA with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. Mr. Farrell is also a certified public accountant and earned an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He is a member of the Council of PetroleumfAccountant Societies (COPAS). In addition to his responsibilities with Sklarco, LLC and Sklar Exploration Company, LLC, Mr. Farrell also manages the non-oil and gas investments of Mr. Sklar. He has worked for the Sklar family since 2001.

V.P. — Operations ManagerMr. Shed has over 30 years of experience in oil/gas exploration and operations. Mr Shed received a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University. He started his career with Moncrief Oil in the Wind River Basin, Wyoming, and there he operated and managed world class HPHT gas wells. His experience with Moncrief included O&G operations from the Rockies to on-shore Louisiana. After 22 years with Moncrief, Monty had the opportunity to work for Bill Barrett Corporation. With Barrett, Monty managed oil/gas assets for 11 years including, Powder River Basin/Wind River Basin (Wyoming), Uintah Basin (Utah) and Piceance Basin/Paradox Basin/DJ Basin (Colorado).

He has been with Sklar since 2005 and currently manages day-to-day operations and personnel in the company’s land department. Mr. Jones is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), Ark-La-Tex Petroleum Landman’s Association (ALTAPL), Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL), Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA), Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA), Denver Petroleum Club and the Florida Independent Petroleum Producers Association (FLIPPA).

V.P. – General CounselMr. Hatcher earned a B.A. degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Georgia State University. He then earned his J.D. from Louisiana State University. After law school, Mr. Hatcher practiced with the law firm, Bradley, Murchison, Kelly & Shea L.L.C. (formerly Lemle & Kelleher, L.L.P.), where he specialized in oil & gas law with an emphasis in mineral and leasehold title examination and oil and gas transactions. He is certified to practice in Louisiana and Colorado with Single Client Certification. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), and the Colorado Oil and Gas Association (COGA) Energy Generation Leadership Program’s (EnGen) class of 2016. EnGen’s mission is to educate and empower the next generation of oil and gas leaders by providing industry-specific leadership and professional development. Mr. Hatcher is also a member of the Denver Petroleum Club (DPC), the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (RMMLF), the Louisiana Mineral Law Institute (MLI) and the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL).
Geoscientist TechnicianMs. Anderson has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, having previously worked at the Shreveport Petroleum Log Library. She joined Sklar in 1999 as a geoscientist technician for Cory Ezelle and currently assists the exploration department. She was promoted to Regulatory Analyst in 2001 and has since received regulatory certifications with the Railroad Commission of Texas and the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. She served on the Board of Directors for the Red River Desk & Derrick Club in 2008 and has been an active member of the club since 2007.

Geophysicist Mr. Eustes has over 25 years of experience as a geophysicist with various oil and gas companies focusing in the southern U.S. with some offshore experience. He has played a key role in the development of numerous fields based on bright spots and AVO anomalies, along with conventional 2D seismic interpretation. He has used 3D data to prove up 2D prospect 'leads' and develop efficient exploitation plans. He joined Sklar & Phillips Oil Company in 1997, and Sklar in 1998. Prior to working with the Sklar family, Mr. Eustes worked for nine years as an independent geophysical consultant. During this time, he worked continually with Cory Ezelle and contributed to many of the field discoveries mentioned above. From 1980 - 1988, he worked with Cities Service and Placid Oil Company. He is a licensed geophysicist in the State of Texas and an active member of the AAPG and the SEG. He has served in many leadership capacities with the Cross Bayou Emmaus community and is currently an elder at Open Door Bible Church.

GeologistMr. McDowell began working for Sklar & Phillips Oil Company in 1996 as a geo-tech while he was attending Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. He joined Sklar at its inception in 1998. In 1999, he graduated from Centenary College with a B.A. degree in geology. From there, he continued his studies at The University of New Orleans in Louisiana and in 2002 received an M.S. degree in geology. He began working full-time as a geologist for Sklar in 2002.

GeologistMr. Snyder joined the Sklar team in June 2011 upon completion of his master’s degree. During his tenure at the University of Mississippi, he taught a wide range of undergraduate geology courses. His research focused on modern carbonates in Exuma, Bahamas where he presented his work at the annual 2010 Geological Society of American conference. In addition, he is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Geological Society of America and Shreveport Geological Society.

Senior Staff GeologistMrs. Walker graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Middlebury College in Vermont with a bachelor’s degree in Geology. In 1987, she received her Masters of Geology from University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. She began her oil and gas career with majors, working as a Petroleum Geologist first for Shell and then for Amoco. Between 1991 and 1999, she worked as a Senior Geologist for Questar Exploration and Production Company in Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Walker worked as Vice President of Exploration for Ellora Energy, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado from its inception in 2002 until 2009. She is an active member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, Houston Geological Society and Geological Society of America, as well as a certified geologist in the State of Wyoming.

Division Order AnalystMrs. Ayers joined the Sklar Land Department in 2014. She provides assistance with various land-related services. Prior to joining Sklar, she worked for Koch Exploration Company, LLC as a Senior Land Specialist and Ulteig Engineers, Inc. as their Denver office manager. She is an active member of the Denver Association of Division Order Analysts and co-chair of their speaker committee.

Lease Analyst Originally from Baton Rouge, Ms. Jenkins moved to Boulder in 2011 to pursue her studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. She began working at Sklar as an intern in August of 2014. In 2015, Ms. Jenkins joined the land department as a lease analyst and received her Bachelor’s degree from CU Boulder. She is an avid yoga practitioner and teacher, and she can be found in the mountains in her free time.

Division Order AnalystMs. Smith joined Sklar as a lease analyst shortly after graduation. Over the next two years, Ms. Smith’s position evolved into Sklar’s first Division Order Analyst. Before moving to Colorado, Clayton worked as a project superintendent in commercial construction for R. David Constructors, managing projects ranging from new industrial facilities to historic structural renovations.

Marketing & Facilities EngineerMrs. Ryckman joined Sklar in 2014 as Marketing and Facilities Engineer. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics-Engineering from Washington and Lee University before moving to Colorado and joining the oil and gas industry. During her career she has served in a variety of roles, first as an engineering analyst with Petro-Canada Resources (USA), Inc. Following an acquisition by Noble Energy, Inc., she transitioned into a position in oil and gas marketing. She most recently served as facilities engineer in their Major Projects and Infrastructure group before joining the Sklar team.

Field SuperintendentJosh Young, Field Superintendent, joined Sklar in May of 2014. Prior to coming to work for Sklar Exploration, Josh was a Lead Operator in the South Marsh Island and Eugene Island areas of the GOM for Northstar, Mariner, Apache, Fieldwood Energy.

Marie joined the Sklar team in 2002.

Executive Assistant to the CEOMs. Athey became part of the Sklar team in 2013 as Executive Assistant to the CEO, Howard Sklar. Prior to that, Ms. Athey was Public Relations Coordinator for Clabber Girl Corporation/Hulman & CO.

Administrative SupportMs. Brown joined Sklar in December of 2014 to provide administrative support to the Boulder team. Previously, she worked for AppleOne Employment Agency as an Operations Associate supporting the office with payroll and general HR administrative duties. She also worked for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in a contract administrative support role in the Engineering Department assisting engineers, engineering techs and construction managers with various project needs.

Office ManagerMr. Nenninger attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated in 2003 with a degree in communication. Prior to joining the Sklar team in 2012, he managed one of the most successful multisport stores in the country, while at the same time competing as a professional triathlete. In addition to managing the Boulder office, he helps to maintain Mr. Sklar’s personal finances.
